Heroscape Events at Gencon 2026: What You Need To Know

Heroscape is back at Gencon 2026 this year with the second-ever Heroscape World Championship, tons of side events, 2v2 multiplayer scenarios, Battle Box demos and more! Here's your rundown of the details you need to know if you're coming to 'Scape with us in Gencon's event hall July 30th to August 2nd!

A REMINDER ON FORMAT TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
Contemporary: Only official Heroscape figures produced by Renegade Game Studios.
All-Time: All official Heroscape figures are allowed, with the exception of Marvel.
Figure Limit: The maximum number of figures allowed in your army. If your army has too many figures, you must drop figures from your army at the start of the game until you meet the limit.
Space Limit / Hex Limit: The maximum number of spaces your army can occupy. If your army fills too many spaces, you must drop figures from your army at the start of the game until you meet the limit. Heroscape tournament maps fit a maximum of 24 hexes in their Start Zones.
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Contemporary format. 460 points, 17 figure limit. 24 space limit. 5 rounds of Swiss.
World Championships begin at 9AM on Thursday, July 30th with Day 1, Heat 1. Heat 2 takes place at 3PM, Thursday, July 30th. Each heat seats a maximum of 48 players, and will qualify a selection of top-performing players for participating in Friday's World Championships: Day 2.
If you have a Day 2 Bye from winning a Store Championship or Valkyrie Trial, you do not need to sign up for a Day 1 heat or buy a World Championships ticket. You may simply show up before the 10AM start time on Friday the 31st, Day 2 of World Championships, and check in at the front desk to join in!
IMPORTANT: If you plan to use Secrets of the Citadel figures in the World Championships, they will be available through several avenues:
- Purchaseable at the Renegade Booth in the Exhibitor Hall. Note that the hall does not open until 10AM Thursday, so if you plan to play Secrets of the Citadel figures in World Championships Heat 1, pre-order your sets and schedule them for Gencon Pickup.
- You can use the GC2026PICKUP preorder code when checking out to schedule your order for Gencon pickup. The deadline for Gencon pickup orders is July 6th. If you are planning to pickup at Gencon, please plan to pick up your sets from Room 139 Wednesday evening 6PM-7PM. If this will not be possible for you, contact william@renegadegames.com to arrange pickup details for Thursday morning.
- If you have already placed your preorder, you may email customerservice@renegadegames.com and they can change your order to a Gencon pickup. If you are planning to pickup at Gencon, please plan to pick up your sets from Room 139 Wednesday evening 6PM-7PM. If this will not be possible for you, contact william@renegadegames.com to arrange pickup details for Thursday morning.
2v2 MULTIPLAYER SCENARIO / HEROSCAPE: EXPEDITIONS SNEAK PEEK
An exclusive preview of Heroscape: Expeditions will be available via the 2v2 Multiplayer Battle Scenario Gencon event. This unique dual-purpose scenario will be played as a standalone scenario on Gencon tables, but can also be used as a Dungeon Room in Heroscape: Expeditions playthroughs. The Heroscape: Expeditions rulebook will be available for players to check out.
The Heroscape: Expeditions rulebook will go live online for the public in August.
PROMOS AND THE PRIZE WALL

Taelord the Kyrie Warrior: Ways to Aquire
- Participating in World Championships Day 1 or Day 2 will earn you an exclusive gold-based World Championships Taelord promotional figure.
- You can earn a normal, brown-base Taelord figure by participating in a Battle Box learn-to-play event or the 2v2 Multiplayer Battle scenario event.
- Playing in the World Championship and side events earn you prize tickets which you may spend at the brand-new Heroscape prize wall. Regular brown-base Taelord figures will be available as a prize you may choose!
Eel and F'Fuoh: Ways to Acquire
- Eel and F'Fuoh may be purchased from the Renegade Booth in the Exhibitor's Hall.
- Eel and F'Fuoh will also be available on the Heroscape prize wall as a prize you can earn with your tickets.

All Heroscape tournament events will use a pool of eight maps in even distribution:

TOURNAMENT EVENT GLYPHS
The above tournament maps will use the following glyphs:
- Dagmar (Initiative +8) (Permanent)
- Lodin (d20 +1) (Permanent)
- Wannok (Wound) (Permanent)
- Yadulkia (Disengage) (Permanent)
- Zigvald (Move +1) (Permanent)
The 'Treasure Quest' event will pull 6 treasure glyphs per map, symbol-side up, from the following pool:
- Brooch of Shielding (Disengage) (Permanent)
- Giant Hunter Stone (+1 Die vs. Large or Huge) (Permanent)
- Heroic Rune (Attack +1) (Permanent)
- Sword of Guether (Attack Aura) (Permanent)
- Spear of Gerda (Defense Aura) (Permanent)
- Gullox Wing-Render (Adjacent Attack Reroll) (Permanent)
- Belt of Giant Strength (Attack +2) (Temporary)
- Whetstone of Venom (Poison) (Temporary)
