Last week, we asked the Transformers community - which Deception Threat from the Transformers Roleplaying Game core rulebook is your favorite and/or the greatest of them all? By a landslide, the community voted in support of SOUNDWAVE!!!

Soundwave fans will attest that he is quite the powerhouse, and therefore is represented appropriately as a threat in the core rulebook. His stat block is expansive, with powerful perks and powers to throw at players! Only the most equipped and experienced of Autobot teams will stand a chance against one of Megatron's top officers.

One of Soundwave's most impressive known features, is that he can actually effectively read minds by scanning and decoding the electrical impulses given off by bots around him. Of course, we had to include this component in the game, which is where his perk, Know Weakness comes into play. This powerful perk will have him at an advantage against most opponents, unless they can narrowly resist his insights.

Here's a quote from one of the talented writers on the Transformers Roleplaying Game core rulebook, Bryan C.P. Steele. We asked what he thought about Soundwave, and who his favorite Decepticon is!

"Soundwave is one of my childhood favorites. The voice. The loyalty to being a bad guy. The weird 'army all in one robot body' aspect... he really is the total Decepticon package at any threat level."

If we are talking about ALL Decepticons, my favorite is actually Devastator. I remember my jaw dropping as a kid when the Constructicons first came together and combined into this unstoppable titan. When I dove deeper later in life into the whole aspect of things... I fell in love with the idea of their gestalt personality. But as for the Decepticons in our game that you find in the core rulebook? Megatron himself. I am particularly proud of his Powers and Hangups, in fact. I spent hours making sure that Megs represented the brutal awesomeness that we see in the media sources - but also kept enough flavor that you could almost hear Frank Welker talking for him at the table."
