MEET LEISHA, OUR DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

Posted by Renegade Games on Mar 13th 2021

What is your role at Renegade?

Leisha: Director of Operations.. I build and manage all the schedules for our games and RPG, get all approvals, spec and quote all the jobs, work with the factories for manufacturing, testing/compliance and shipping....... I do all the fun stuff!

How long have you been with the company, and what led you here?

Leisha: I have been with Renegade since 2017 but I have been working in the industry since 2002. I have worked with majority of this crew for 10-15 years so any chance I get to work with them I will take it.

What is your favorite thing about working in the tabletop industry?

Leisha: The people for sure. I have never met so many cool, unique, intelligent, thoughtful, kind, beautiful people in any other industry. I learn something new everyday and I am always grateful for that. And we get to make games, that is pretty cool.

What is your favorite board game?

Leisha: That is a secret… I do have one, more of a dice game but I cannot reveal. :)

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren't making or playing board games?

Leisha: Oh man some real middle aged lady stuff....... hang with my family (I have two young girls), garden, refinish furniture, hike in the woods, read, go to the beach. I wish you would asked me that question about 15 years ago!

“Focus in on the part of the industry you have the most experience in, it isn’t enough to just be a super fan of something (although that helps), and start there."
— Leisha

Do you have any advice for people that want to get into the industry?

Leisha: Focus in on the part of the industry you have the most experience in, it isn't enough to just be a super fan of something (although that helps), and start there. Get your foot in the door and then absorb absorb absorb everything around you, volunteer to playtest games or even help a coworker who is maybe doing something you are not as interested in have a conversation with them find out what they do. I have had the chance to sit with each department within our company and other game companies and learn from them what they do and how they do it and struggles they. We have shared in successes and worked through our challenges, I learn the most when I am looking at a challenge through someone else's eyes. So dive in and work hard.
